Agartala (Tripura) [India], A man was arrested for allegedly killing a tea vendor in Agartala after a quarrel which turned violent when the vendor killed him citing 'dues'. Refused to give tea and cigarettes. The deceased, identified as Sukhen Das, succumbed to injuries after the accused attacked him with a piece of brick. According to Das, Das suffered multiple injuries on his head after accused Dipankar Sarkar repeatedly attacked him with a brick. According to sources, the accused refused to give tea and cigarettes until his dues were cleared. Speaking on the incident, Inspector Sanjit Sen, in-charge of East Agartala police station, said, "On May 16, the accused person Dipankar Sen, who was also a neighbor of the deceased, went to Das's shop. He was given tea. However, in return he Refused to pay the money, “On May 18, he again came to the shop and asked for cigarettes and tea, but Da asked him to clear his dues first. Within no time the matter escalated and a scuffle broke out. Enraged, the accused attacked the tea vendor," the officer said. "Subsequently, Das was shifted to GBP Hospital in Agartala for treatment, but he could not be saved. Das's widow Bithi Das had lodged a complaint at the EAS Agartala police station on the same day he died. "We have approached the court seeking inclusion of section 302 of the IPC in the case," the officer said. Have prayed. Dipankar Sarkar was arrested the same day.
