The PAC headed by Justice Swapan Chandra Das (retd) investigates allegations of misconduct against police officers and other personnel.

Chakraborty, Secretary, Home and General Administration, said, “…..and in the light of the findings and recommendations of the Tripura Human Rights Commission (THRC), the Governor has directed Dr. H.C. Ordered to be removed. D'Souza was removed from the office of Member, Tripura PAC with immediate effect.

Officials said that soon after his appointment in August last year, allegations of financial corruption and irregularities using his position as a member of the powerful PAC were being leveled by various quarters and individuals.

In response to a complaint by D'Souza alleged serious misconduct and abuse, including illegal demands related to official matters, the THRC investigated the complaint and found merit in the allegations against him.

Citing THRC recommendations, the order said, "THRC in its order recommended action against D'Souza as it found that he 'grossly abused his official position and his actions amount to moral turpitude.'"
