Speaking to ANI, Tripura Mental Health Program Officer Dr Udayan Majumde said, "In collaboration with AIIMS Delhi, a drug treatment clinic is already functional at the modern psychiatric hospital here in Narsinghgarh. "We started with 18 patients in the initial days. Started my journey and now around 40 regular patients come here in search of treatment. In particular, victims of substance abuse such as heroin, brown sugar and injection drugs receive treatment here.Talking about future plans, Dr Majumdar said that the state government has launched an ambitious project to set up de-addiction centers in all the districts. Under the Suvarna Jayanti Tripura Nirman Yojana, the state government has sanctioned Rs 20 crore for each facility. "These 50-bed de-addiction centers will provide both indoor and outdoor services to the patients. The Public Works Department has been given the responsibility for this."
