Mumbai: In view of the BJP's Lok Sabha seat tally in Maharashtra falling from 23 to 9, senior party leader and state Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday stressed the need for real introspection and a strategy to revive the saffron party's fortunes. Gave.

Addressing a party meeting aimed at taking stock of the Lok Sabha election results, Fadnavis claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lost many seats due to polarisation.

"We need a strategy and real introspection. Mere analysis is not enough," he said.

The former Chief Minister said, “The sky has not fallen. We got only two lakh votes less in the state, whereas in Mumbai we got two lakh more votes. BJP was ahead in 130 assembly constituencies. But there was tremendous polarization."

It was a false story that if BJP came to power, it would change the Constitution. This narrative was strong in the first three phases. But we countered this narrative well after three phases. Therefore, we (Mahayuti alliance) could win only four out of 24 Lok Sabha seats in the first three phases and 13 out of 24 seats in the remaining phases,” he claimed.

The Mahayuti alliance – comprising the BJP, Shiv Sena (led by Eknath Shinde) and the NCP (led by Ajit Pawar) won 17 of the total 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra, while the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), comprising the Congress, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) and NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) won 30 seats out of total 48 seats.

Fadnavis asked the party cadre to start working for the upcoming state assembly elections while maintaining their current vote share.

He said, “If we increase our vote percentage even by one percent, we will win the assembly elections.,

Accusing the opposition parties of spreading several false narratives against the BJP, Fadnavis asked party officials and leaders to counter them strongly.

"Recently, there was a story that the state was getting less central funds. In fact, we were getting 5.1 per cent and now it has been increased to 6.3 per cent. The fund distribution criteria are decided by NITI Aayog," he said. Is."

He said, there was a story that the Waqf Board was given a fund of Rs 10 crore by the government, whereas the actual amount was Rs 2 crore.Fadnavis said that there was a story about the Bombay Development Department (BDD) not conducting the lottery for chawls, but in reality the lottery was to be held on May 20, but it was postponed due to the Lok Sabha elections in Mumbai on that day.

"Similarly, it was being said that smart meters would be installed, but no such decision has been taken," he claimed.

A resolution congratulating Narendra Modi on becoming Prime Minister for the third consecutive time was passed during the BJP meeting, where newly elected party MPs were felicitated.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, state BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule accused the opposition of spreading lies against the ruling coalition.

He said, “We are confident that we will perform well in the assembly elections and form the government again in the state.,

A day after the Lok Sabha election results were declared earlier this month, Fadnavis had offered to step down so that he could work "full-time" for the party ahead of the assembly elections.

He said, “I take responsibility for the results in Maharashtra. I am requesting the party leadership to relieve me of the responsibility in the government so that I can work full-time for the party in the upcoming assembly elections."
