Patna: A total of 21 people died across Bihar in incidents related to lightning in the last 24 hours, the Chief Minister's Office said on Friday.

The CMO said in a statement that the maximum number of deaths, six, occurred in Madhubani, followed by four in Aurangabad, two in Patna and one each in Rohtas, Bhojpur, Kaimur, Saran, Jehanabad, Gopalganj, Supaul, Lakhisarai and Madhepura districts. Death occurred. ,

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has expressed grief over the deaths and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh to the families of each deceased.

He also urged people to take all precautions during inclement weather, avoid going out unless necessary and follow advisories issued from time to time by the Disaster Management Department.

Bihar has been witnessing rains and storms for the past few weeks and around 70 people have died in lightning-related incidents since the beginning of this month.
