Darbhanga/Begusarai/Samastipur, Officials said around 10.18 per cent of over 95 lakh voters in the five Lok Sabha constituencies of Bihar have exercised their franchise till 9 am on Monday.

Voting to decide the fate of 55 candidates in Bihar's five Lok Sabha seats Begusarai, Ujiarpur, Samastipur, Munger and Darbhanga began at 7 am and will continue till 6 pm, a senior official said.

Till 9 am, 11.61 percent voters in Darbhanga Lok Sabha constituency, 11.11 percent in Samastipur, 10.26 percent in Munger, 9.3 percent in Ujiarpur and 8.85 percent in Begusarai have exercised their franchise.

Around 95.85 lakh voters are eligible to exercise their franchise at 5,398 polling stations, the official said.

Union minister Giriraj Singh is contesting re-election from Begusarai, where his main rival is CPI's Avadhesh Rai. Singh had defeated former JNU Students Union president Kanhaiya Kumar from the same seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

In Ujiarpur, which has the lowest number of voters at 17.48 lakh but has the maximum 13 candidates, Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai is aiming to win for the third consecutive time. His main rival is senior RJ leader and former minister of state Alok Mehta.

Samastipur, earlier known as Rosera, presents a battleground for two debutants – Congress's Sunny Hazari and LJP (Ram Vilas)'s Shambhavi Choudhary – who will join the ranks of senior JD(U) leaders and ministers in the Nitish Kumar cabinet. Have children.
