Ramanagara (Karnataka), Two students died while the driver of their SUV was seriously injured after it allegedly collided with a truck on the Bengaluru-Mysore Expressway, police said on Saturday.

The deceased have been identified as Vishwa (22) and Surya (18), both residents of Bommasandra in Bengaluru, he said.

Police said that while Vishwa was pursuing a diploma course, his friend Surya was a second year pre-university student in Bengaluru.

According to the police, both the students were returning from Mysore in an SUV, which was being driven by a person named Suhas. His vehicle allegedly collided with a truck which was in the wrong lane, resulting in an accident on the Bengaluru-Mysore Expressway near Kempanadoddy village in Ramanagara here on Friday night.

Both Surya and Vishwa were taken to a nearby hospital where they were declared brought dead. A senior traffic police officer said the car driver, Suhas, suffered serious injuries and was said to be out of danger.

He said, "A case has been registered under Indian Penal Code sections 297 (rash driving on public way) and 304A (causing death by negligence) and the accused truck driver has been arrested in connection with the accident." " ,
