KOLKATA: A day after human bones were recovered near the Baghjola canal in Kolkata's New Town area, West Bengal CID officials on Monday recovered other body parts of slain Bangladesh MP Anwarul Azim Anar, an official said. The search continued.

The CID, which is interrogating Mohammed Siam Hussain, one of the key accused in the case, continued its searches in and around New Town area, the officer said.

"SIAM has given us details of the areas where the body parts were thrown. We are also searching for trolley suitcases and instruments used in the crime," he said.

Investigators are also examining call details from Siam's phone, which have been sent for forensic testing.On Sunday, the state CID recovered parts of human bones near Bagjola canal after interrogating Siam, who was arrested by Nepal Police and extradited to India. The bone parts will soon be sent for forensic examination.

Earlier, the CID had recovered pieces of flesh weighing about 3.5 kg from the septic tank of a flat in New Town area, where Anar was last seen on May 12.

The CID officer said the Bangladesh MP's daughter may reach Kolkata next week for DNA testing.

Siam was brought to West Bengal on Saturday evening and placed in 14-day CID custody by a local court in Barasat in North 24 Parganas district.Police claimed that circumstantial evidence showed that the Awami League leader was first strangled to death, after which his body was cut into pieces.

Efforts to trace the missing MP, who had reportedly reached Kolkata for treatment on May 12, began after Gopal Biswas, a resident of North Kolkata's Baranagar and an acquaintance of the Bangladeshi politician, lodged a missing complaint with the local police on May 18. Hui. ,

On Biswas's arrival, Anar stayed at his residence. In his complaint, Biswas mentioned that Anar had left his Baranagar residence for a doctor's appointment on the afternoon of May 13 and was expected to be back home for dinner. After Anar went missing, Biswas lodged a police complaint.
