Twenty-year-old Prabhudhya, daughter of a social worker, was found dead at her residence in the Subramanyapura police station area on the evening of 15 May, with her throat slit and cut marks on her hands. Initially the police registered the case as unnatural death.

However, Prabhudhya's mother Soumya suspected it to be a case of murder. They told the police that their daughter was strong and did not have the mentality to end her life and there was no apparent reason for taking such a drastic step.

Soumya alleged that her daughter was brutally murdered. Prabhudhya's neck and hands were cut and his face and head were attacked. Police sources say that since the knife was found near the body and there was no theft, the case was initially considered an unnatural death.

When the mother suspected murder, the police started investigation in this direction. They are investigating and listing the suspected persons and are also waiting for the post mortem report.

Soumya had earlier claimed that her daughter's mobile phone was missing and the back door of the house was open.

“I have saved many children, raised my voice against prominent politicians and questioned the system. I am unable to understand who would have done this. Raised my daughter with self-respect, morality and courage. Now, my 20-year-old daughter is lying dead in front of me,” Soumya had said.
