Despite having until January 25 to hold an election, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced on May 22 that the country would go to the polls on July 4.

As many as 46.5 million voters are expected to cast their ballots in 650 constituencies across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, CNN reports.

To form a majority government, any party will have to win 326 seats.

The Labor Party, Conservative Party, Liberal Democrats, Reform UK, Scottish National Party (SNP) and the Green Party are the major parties in the political landscape of the country.

Labor Party leader Keir Starmer is projected to get a historic mandate against UK Prime Minister and Conservative Party leader Rishi Sunak, according to pre-election surveys.

The pre-poll survey said the Labor Party is projected to win 484 seats, the Conservatives, who have been in power for the last 14 years, are predicted to win 64 seats, while the Democrats are likely to secure seats.
