In a social media post, Dhinakaran cited media reports on the arrest of a former employee of an engineering college in Theni district for trying to encroach into the area where the EVMs are stored. He also expressed concern about the interruption in CCTV coverage of the strong room in two separate incidents in Erode and Nilgiris districts.
The AMMK leader also demanded uninterrupted CCTV coverage of the strong room, where EVMs are kept till the counting day. He also said that an attempt was made by a person to enter the premises guarded by central and state police personnel, causing disruption in CCTV coverage, thereby creating "doubt" in the minds of people.
Voting for the Lok Sabha elections was held in Tamil Nadu during the first phase on 19 April. Counting of votes is to take place on June 4.
