Indore, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) on Tuesday filed an application before the Madhya Pradesh High Court seeking four weeks' time to submit its survey report on the Bhojshala-Kamal Maula mosque complex, a structure of the Medieval era in the enclosed Dhar district. a long-standing dispute.

The plea held that the National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI), Hyderabad, had requested three weeks' time from the ASI to study the huge amount of data collected during the Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) Geographic Information System (GIS) study ) of the complex and present a final report.

The Hindu community considers Bhojshala as a temple of Vagdevi (Goddess Saraswati), while the Muslim side calls the 11th century monument Kamal Maula Mosque, and the ASI is carrying out a "scientific study" of the complex under the direction of the HC .

As per an order of the Indore court of the HC, the ASI was required to submit the complete study report of the complex by July 2 (Tuesday).

The ASI's fresh application is likely to be filed in the high court on Thursday.

In the application, the court was told that the ASI completed the survey of the Bhojshala premises without taking any break despite intermittent rains in the area.

According to the statement, the NGRI has also completed the GPR-GIS study of the disputed site and the Hyderabad-based institute has asked the ASI for three weeks to submit a final report after carrying out detailed study, analysis and interpretation of data from More than 600 survey profiles.

On March 11, the HC had directed the ASI to conduct a scientific study of the complex at the request of an organization called 'Hindu Front for Justice'.

The ASI, which protects the complex, began its study on March 22 and recently completed the exercise.

The central government agency had issued an order on April 7, 2003, after a controversy broke out over the nature of the complex with both Hindus and Muslims claiming the site.

As per the order that has been in force for 21 years, Hindus are allowed to worship at Bhojshala every Tuesday, while Muslims are allowed to offer 'namaz' at the place every Friday.

The Hindu Front for Justice has questioned this agreement ordered by the ASI in its petition.
