Mumbai: Air India failed to book accommodation for some cabin crew members and they had to wait for a long time after landing in Hyderabad on Wednesday night, with the airline saying it will take appropriate action for the lapse.

Sources close to the matter said the cabin crew members kept searching for a hotel throughout the night and when they finally arranged accommodation at CTE, the airline's flight training facility, early Thursday, the room lacked basic amenities.

"It (the room) was in a deplorable state," said one of the sources.

According to him, when the crew members went to the hotel where they were to stay, they discovered that no booking had been made by the airline.

When contacted, an Air India spokesperson admitted that a mistake had been made.

"At Air India, the well-being of our employees is important to us and we offer comfortable accommodation in globally renowned hotels for their stay. This is an oversight and we will take appropriate action," the spokesperson said in a statement.

Sources said the accommodation at the CTE is only for crews coming for training and not for the cockpit or cabin crew on duty.

For the cockpit and cabin crew, airlines book their hotel rooms in advance in the city where the flight is to land at night.
