Aizawl, Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Friday said no irregularities were found in the civil services examinations conducted by the Mizoram Public Service Commission (MPSC) as per a recently submitted inquiry report.

The report of the inquiry, which was conducted by former state chief secretary Lalmanzuala, concluded that "there were no irregularities" in the civil services examinations and "n marks were changed" as alleged by a student organization. .

He said that the investigating officer conducted a thorough study and thorough investigation into the alleged irregularities in the conduct of civil services examinations by the MPSC last year.

"The investigating officer had submitted his detailed report last week. The investigation found that there were no irregularities in the conduct of competitive examinations," Lalduhoma told reporters. It was also found that there was no change in the marks obtained by the candidates."

The investigation found that the marks shown on the answer sheets and later erased using correction fluid were exactly the same as the marks given on the tabulated sheets, he said.

Earlier, Mizoram's apex student body Mizo Zirlai Pawal (MZP) had launched an agitation in front of the MPSC office here demanding the resignation of commission chairman JC Ramathanga over alleged irregularities.

The organization alleged that there were irregularities in the conduct of the combined competitive examination held in October last year as marks obtained by some candidates were found changed in the answer sheets and tabulation sheets by using correction fluid.

It also said that the correction fluid was rarely used in the past and when the evaluator wanted to correct the marks already given in the answer papers, he used to cross it out with a pen and mark the new marks. Used to give. His signature or explanatory notes below the marks.

Following the agitation, the government ordered an inquiry and on 15 April appointed Lalmanzuala, who is also a former MPSC chairman, as the investigating officer. He was asked to submit his report within seven days of his appointment. Lalmanzuala submitted his report on 24 April.

According to MPSC officials, generally, three-tier evaluation of answer sheets is done and evaluators are not allowed to give marks on answer sheets except the tabulation sheet. However, sometimes, evaluators give marks on the answer sheets, which need to be erased or removed before handing over the answer sheets to the next evaluator, he said.

He said this has been done to ensure independent evaluation.

Officials said the marks given separately by the first and second evaluators on the tabulation sheet are compared by the third evaluator or inquisitor, who allocates the final marks after making corrections if needed.

After this, the final marks given by the inquisitor are carefully checked in the MPSC office, after which the final tabulation is prepared.
