New Delhi: To encourage voters, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi has roped in businesses, including hotels and eateries, to offer discounts to those voting in the Lok Sabha elections.

Voting will be held in the sixth phase of general elections in Delhi on March 25.

A statement issued by the Delhi civic body on Tuesday said restaurants across the city affiliated with the National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) will offer 20 per cent discount to customers after casting their votes.

It said that beneficiaries can avail this discount by showing their voter ID and inked finger.

Various eateries and hotels in different areas of the city - West, Keshavpuram, Najafgarh, City SP and Karol Bagh - will also provide relaxation to those participating in the elections, the statement said.

Chandni Chowk Sarva Vyapar Mandal has also given a discount of 10 percent to the buyers who show indelible ink mark on their finger in the establishment registered with the board. According to the statement, buyers can avail this one-time offer on May 27.

Similarly, trade body C-4-E Janakpuri Market will give a 5 per cent discount to buyers who mark the voting on fingers, the statement said.

Establishments in the western region have decided to give a discount of 10 percent to 20 percent to patrons exercising their right to vote in the elections.

Select City Walk Mall in Saket has also asked various establishments in the mall to offer discounts to eligible voters.

The statement said that establishments in Keshavpuram area will give 20 to 30 percent discount to voters casting their ballot.

It said that Radisson Blu Hotel in Dwarka area of ​​Najafgarh region has announced 50 per cent discount on lunch buffet and 30 per cent discount on dinner buffet for those exercising their right to vote on May 25.
