Balaghat (Madhya Pradesh): A 27-year-old man, who was trying to complete a 25-km walk test for the post of forest guard in Madhya Pradesh's Balaghat district, died on Saturday at a hospital where his condition deteriorated. Later he was admitted, an official said. ,

The deceased has been identified as Salim Maurya, who was a resident of Shivpuri district.

Divisional Forest Office (DO) Abhinav Pallav said, after the written examination for the post of forest guard in the forest department, 108 applicants appeared for the physical test, which included a walk of 25 kilometers, which was to be completed in four hours. .

He said, "The walk test started at 6 am. While returning, just three kilometers before the test competition, Salim Mouri's condition deteriorated."

Maurya was taken to the hospital where he was declared dead, the official said, adding that 104 out of 108 candidates completed the walk within the time limit.

His cousin Vinod Jatav said Maurya traveled to Balaghat on May 23 for document verification and physical test after clearing the written exam.

"After his condition deteriorated, he was taken to a private hospital where Salim died," he said.
