Shahdol, Five people were arrested on Wednesday for the alleged gang rape of a 15-year-old girl in Madhya Pradesh's Shahdol district. Police gave this information.

The incident took place under Kotwali police station limits in Monda evening when the girl was returning from a coaching class.

Those arrested were identified as Aishwarya Nidhi Gupta (36), Salim Quresh (22), Kailash Panika (29), Salim (18) and Afzal Ansari (28).

Superintendent of Police Kumar Prateek said all five have been booked for rape under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.

Earlier, Kotwali police station in-charge Raghavendra Tiwari had told the reporter that the accused molested the girl when she was returning from the coaching class.

"They asked both the girls why they were standing there, threatened them, and started filming them. They then took the girl to a nearby forest area and raped her," she said.
