Jabalpur (MP), Police said two people, one of whom was shooting a reel for social media, drowned in the Narmada river in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur city on Sunday.

An official said that the drowning incident took place on the old bridge of Tilwara Ghat.

Tilwara police station in-charge Brijesh Mishra said that Ankur Goswami (20) jumped into the river from the bridge after asking his friend to make a video of him.

Ankur tried to swim to the shore but started drowning and his friend raised an alarm, he said.

Local divers tried to save him, but by the time they pulled him out, he was dead, the official said.

A video has surfaced on social media, in which Goswami can be seen jumping into the river after asking his friend to shoot the reel.

In a similar incident, another 20-year-old man, Neeraj Chakraborty, drowned at Tilwara Ghat during the day, he said.

The officer said police have registered cases of accidental death in connection with the bot incidents.
