An Emirates spokesperson described the loss of the flamingo flock as "tragic" and said it was cooperating with the relevant authorities on the matter, while also apologizing for the inconvenience caused to passengers.



It may be recalled that last night at around 9.15 pm, the incoming Emirates flight was hit by a flock of flamingos over Ghatkopar, minutes before it was to land safely at CSMIA.



A total of 39 Majesty Pink birds died after being hit by the plane and their bodies have been sent for post-mortem to ascertain the cause of the tragedy, the forest department said in a statement.
