Kolkata, Eastern Railway has earned over Rs 953 crore passenger revenue in the first quarter of financial year 2024-25, an official said here on Tuesday.

He said during the April-June quarter of the current financial year, the Kolkata-headquartered ER achieved a growth of 9.97 per cent in revenue from passenger movement compared to the year-ago period.

"Passenger revenue for the first quarter of 2024-25 is Rs 953.24 crore, compared to Rs 866.79 crore during the same period last fiscal," an ER official said in a statement.

The total number of original passengers in the April-June period of 2024 was 2,87,654, an increase of 3.36 per cent from the previous year's figure of 2,78,309.
