New Delhi: A fire broke out at a garment factory in East Delhi's Gandhi Nagar area on Tuesday morning, officials said, with no casualties reported.

A Delhi Fire Service (DFS) official said the fire department was informed at 9.55 am and six fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the fire that broke out in the four-storey factory.

He said that the fire was brought under control in two hours.

Due to hanging wires and narrow streets, fire engines faced great difficulty in reaching the spot.

A video surfaced on social media in which workers are seen removing wires entangled in the streets to make way for fire engines.

Manoj Jain, a local resident, told Ideas, "As soon as I saw the fire, I immediately informed the authorities. There was a delay in the arrival of fire engines due to the narrow streets here. I would request the government to send small fire engines which can easily spot such a fire." Can enter the streets." ,

Assistant Divisional Officer (DFS) Yashwant Singh Meena said the fire broke out on the first floor of the four-storey building.

"The fire soon spread to other floors. We managed to control it by 11.54 am. Later, a cooling operation was carried out," he said.

Meena said factory workers told officials that the fire broke out due to a short circuit in the meter board on the first floor, but the actual cause would be known only after a police investigation.
