KOLKATA: Jani Chacko Uthup, husband of Indian pop icon Usha Uthup, died in Kolkata on Monday, his family said.
78-year-old Jani complained of discomfort while watching TV at his residence. He was taken to a nearby hospital but was declared dead, he said.
He said the cause of death was massive heart failure.
Usha's second husband Jani was associated with the tea plantation sector. They first met at the prestigious Trincas in the early 70s.
Besides Usha, a son and a daughter were alive.
The family said the last rites will be held on Tuesday.
