New Delhi: The Defense Ministry on Friday said the Inter-Services Organization (Command, Control and Discipline Act) has been notified in a gazette and has come into force from May 10.

This step has been taken amid the theaterization plan envisioned by the government.

Under the theaterization model, the government seeks to integrate the capabilities of the Army, Air Force and Navy, and make optimal use of their resources for wars and operations.

"To promote effective command, control and efficient functioning of Inter-Services Organizations (ISOs), the Bill was passed by both Houses of Parliament during the Monsoon Session of 2023. The Bill will receive the assent of the President on August 15, 2023. Received," the ministry said in a statement.

The Act empowers the Commander-in-Chief and Officer-in-Command of the ISO to exercise control over the service personnel serving under them for the effective maintenance of discipline and administration without disturbing the specific service conditions of each individual service.

“With the notification, the Act will empower the heads of ISOs and pave the way for expeditious disposal of cases, save many proceedings and will be a step towards greater integration and solidarity among the armed forces personnel,” I said.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh had said last week that the process of theaterisation in the Army is progressing and a consensus is being formed between the three services on this ambitious initiative.

He said, the armed forces are committed to the theaterization initiative as this initiative will integrate the capabilities of the three services and ensure better utilization of resources.
