Agartala (Tripura) [India], Pineapple farmers in Tripura have achieved a significant feat by producing a record breaking 30 metric tonnes (MT) of pineapples.

This historic development, led by the Sheel Biotech team in collaboration with Tripura State Organic Farming Development Agency (TSOFDA), is a major step forward for the agriculture sector of the region.

This important initiative was taken under the aegis of MOVCD-NER Phase III in partnership with Thalaithaar Organic Producer Company Limited, located in Dhalai district.

The pineapples were carefully packed and transported in refrigerated vehicles, setting out on the journey to Bengaluru. Notably, this operation marks the beginning of a regular schedule, with two refrigerated trucks ready to make the trip each week, ensuring a steady flow of produce to market.

"This is the largest shipment of pineapples so far this year, underscoring the resilience and dedication of our pineapple farming community," a TSOFDA spokesperson said.

The initiative has created a new sense of optimism among farmers, who see such shipments as an important step towards enhancing their livelihoods.

Experts believe that such strategic measures will play an important role in fulfilling the government's vision of doubling farmers' income. The concerted efforts of the Sheel Biotech team and TSOFDA not only highlight their commitment towards agricultural prosperity but also pave the way for sustainable growth in the organic farming sector of the region.
