Budapest: Indian woman wrestler Anshu Malik could not match the skills of her 21-year-old Chinese rival Kexin Hong in the final and lost the silver medal in the 57kg category at the Budapest Ranking Series here.

Competing against the No. 1 ranked Chinese player, Anshu lost 1-12 on technical superiority against the Hangzhou Asian Games bronze medalist in the 53 kg category.

India's finalist Panghal had earlier fought hard to clinch a silver medal in the 53kg category, while star wrestler Vinesh Phogat lost 0-5 to China's Jiang Zhu in the quarterfinals of the 50kg category.

Anshu started with an incredible match against Moldova's Anastasia Nichita and won 6-5 points to book her place in the semi-finals. When Nichita was leading 5-4 with only 19 seconds left on the clock, Anshu won the close match with a sideline takedown to lead 6-5.

After this, he defeated the challenge of world champion Zhang Qi 2-1 and secured the title match with another Chinese player.

But Hong proved too much for the Indian, taking a 4-1 lead in the opening round and showed her class in the second round to take an unassailable lead with 11 seconds remaining.

Aman Sehrawat, India's only male wrestler to qualify for the Paris Olympics, had won the silver medal on the first day after losing 1-11 to Rei Higuchi of Japan on technical superiority.
