Chandigarh, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday announced that a state transplant center will soon be set up in Rohtak to facilitate kidney and other organ transplants.

Saini said the center will be set up at the state's premier health institute - the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) in Rohtak.

Addressing a gathering of doctors of PGIMS-Rohtak here, Saini highlighted the continuous efforts of the state government to improve health facilities with the priority of providing affordable and accessible treatment to the residents of Haryana.

He said that just as 24 AIIMS have been commissioned in India in the last decade, Haryana has also seen unprecedented development in its health services.

At present, there are two AIIMS in Haryana.One is running in Jhajjar district and the foundation stone of the second AIIMS was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Rewari district earlier this year.

Saini said the state government aims to establish a medical college in every district to meet the demand for doctors and improve health services.

Currently, around 18 medical colleges have been established in the state, and more are in the process of being established, an official statement said.

State Health Minister Kamal Gupta, who also holds the civil aviation department, said he has directed that all medical colleges and district hospitals have facilities to airlift needy patients in cases related to donated organs as well as transplantation. Helipad should be constructed for.

Gupta, who was present at the event, said he is an alumnus of PGIMS, having joined the MBBS program in 1971 and completed his MS in 1980.He reminded that former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had committed to open a medical college in every district to overcome the shortage of doctors.

He said that many of these colleges are now operational and many are under development.

The Health Minister also praised PGIMS doctors for their transformative work in kidney transplantation, which is a significant advancement in the healthcare sector of Haryana.

Chief Minister Saini also honored the kidney transplant team of doctors of PGIMS-Rohtak.

On this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary of Medical Education and Health Department Sumita Mishra, Director of Medical Education and Research Department Saket Kumar, Director of PGIMS-Rohtak SS Lohchab were also present.
