Established in 1924 as a bitumen production site, Stanlow has been a vital pillar of the UK energy sector for a century, providing essential products and transport fuels and supporting the growth of the economy of both the country and the North West.

The centenary celebrations will last for several months and will include a number of events and initiatives that will recognize Stanlow's significant contribution to the Cheshire community, the North West region and the UK as a whole. Additionally, the company will use the centenary to recognise, celebrate and thank the communities associated with Stanlow, as well as demonstrate its long-term commitment to supporting these communities in the future.

EET Fuels will celebrate colleagues both past and present, and acknowledge the generations of men and women who have driven the refinery with dedication, driving growth and innovation in the UK manufacturing and transport industries and the economy as a whole. Essar owned development

Essar Group acquired Stanlow in 2011. Since then, Essar has maintained close ties with its communities and invested more than $1 billion in improvement initiatives.

Today, the Stanlow Refinery remains a major national asset, with over 20,00 liters of crude oil entering the refinery's operations every minute. Stanlow produces more than 16 percent of the UK's road transport fuel each year and remains a major supplier to some of the North West's leading retail fuel brands such as supermarkets, Manchester Airport, major commercial airlines and the region's trains and buses.Stanlow employs over 700 people and employs another 700 indirectly as part of the local supply chain. It also offers graduate and apprenticeship opportunities.
