A protest was organized by the general public, Awami Action Committee (AAC) members and students associated with PoJK in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, demanding the release of Ahmed Farhad Shah. In the protest, many social workers demanded to know the address of the journalists and the poet. Notably, protests in PoJK were called off after Pakistan's Prime Minister approved grants to subsidize the prices of flour and electricity in PoJK after several days of unrest. However, many activists have raised concerns that people like Shah are facing action for highlighting the violence during the protests, which left at least three people and one police officer dead. The kidnapping of Ahmed Farhad has also attracted a lot of attention on social media. Activists have long claimed that anyone who exposes conditions in Pakistan-occupied territories or speaks out for basic rights faces action by Pakistan's military and its spy agencies. During the protest, a female protester asked, "Under what charges has Ahmed Farhad been picked up by the defense forces, and how many more intellectuals will you abduct and harass?" We will protest in some parts of Kashmir, and so will foreign Kashmiris. Raise your voice for Ahmed Farhad also. It should not be assumed that we will remain silent. He is a fearless poet, he did not just talk about PoJK or Pakistan but he talked about global issues,” the protester said.
