Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], Due to the scorching heat in Uttar Pradesh, the state's maximum power demand reached 29,820 MW on Tuesday night, the highest ever recorded. Electricity consumption also increased to about 643 million units.

It is noteworthy that on May 31, the demand for electricity had reached 29,727 MW, which the Power Corporation fulfilled and created a new record. The maximum demand reached 28,284 MW on 24 July 2023, which was a record at that time. This record was later broken on 22 May 2024, when power demand reached 28,336 MW.

It is noteworthy that under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, instructions have been given to ensure smooth power supply even during the scorching heat. This is being ensured with commitment by Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation.UPPCL Chairman Dr. Ashish Kumar Goyal has instructed the officials to take precautions in view of the scorching heat and increasing demand for electricity. In this challenging time, all employees have to discharge their responsibilities with dedication and honesty.

He said that arrangements are being made to meet the ever increasing demand for electricity. The Power Corporation has made adequate arrangements for power availability as per the forecast and additional arrangements are also being made promptly as the demand increases.

The Chairman emphasized that there are no scheduled power cuts anywhere due to the capacity of the system. There are reports of power supply disruption due to local fault.In this regard, strict instructions have been given to immediately repair any local fault and restore supply in the shortest possible time.

Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Chairman Dr. Ashish Goyal has issued instructions to run a campaign against electricity theft to improve the power system. He instructed the Managing Directors and Chief Engineers of all the distribution corporations of the state to target the feeders with highest line losses and if necessary, to stop electricity theft by running a campaign with the help of vigilance. No one should be harassed unduly.

He said that it is necessary to effectively curb electricity theft to ensure better power supply and system management. In the campaign, first of all the feeders most likely to suffer electricity theft should be identified and targeted.In the review of the electricity system of Prayagraj region, the Chairman directed to issue charge sheet to the superintending engineers of Prayagraj (I) and Fatehpur. The progress in their areas with respect to revenue, transformer damage, subsidiary billing, RDSS and business planning schemes was not satisfactory. Executive engineers of Kaushambi and Khaga were also given strict warnings.

Uttar Pradesh has created a national record for highest power supply by successfully meeting the increased demand during the scorching heat. Recently, Uttar Pradesh set a milestone by meeting the highest power demand of 29,500 MW in the country.According to the Grid India Power Supply Report, on June 10, 2024, Uttar Pradesh once again achieved the first position in the country by supplying 28,889 MW of electricity, beating states like Maharashtra and Gujarat.

The report released on June 10 said that to meet the highest demand, Uttar Pradesh supplied 28,889 MW, Maharashtra 24,254 MW, Gujarat 24,231 MW, Tamil Nadu 16,257 MW and Rajasthan 16,781 MW. Also, the electricity department of Uttar Pradesh has created a record of highest power supply in the country during peak hours this year.
