New Delhi: The Trinamool Congress on Wednesday claimed that the Australian Deputy High Commissioner was recommended not to meet three West Bengal ministers and accused the Center of creating obstacles in the state getting foreign investment.

At a press conference here, TMC Rajya Sabha member Saket Gokhale said the Oceania Division of the Ministry of External Affairs met West Bengal Industries and Commerce Minister Shashi Panja, IT Minister Babul Supriyo and Agriculture Minister Sovandeb Chattopadhyay against Deputy High Commissioner Nicholas McCaffrey's recommendation. of.

"The Government of West Bengal received a communication from the Australian High Commission that the Deputy High Commissioner would be visiting the State and had sought a meeting with the three Ministers. Subsequently, a communication came from the Oceania Division of the Ministry of External Affairs, which handles the Oceania region, that the Ministry would recommend that Does not allow the Australian Deputy High Commissioner to meet three ministers of state," he said.

“The question here is very simple.What problem does the NDA government have if a diplomat representing his country in India holds a meeting with cabinet ministers in any state in India?" Gokhale asked.

According to sources, while the Australian Deputy High Commissioner was given 'no-clearance' to meet Dilip Ghosh, Sukanta Majumdar, Derek O'Brien and Jawahar Sarkar, he recommended not meeting state ministers.

Gokhale said the issue would be discussed with other parties in India and raised in Parliament.

He also claimed that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has been refused permission to tour abroad on more than one occasion.

"When it comes to foreign relations of the country and Indian states, the Ministry of External Affairs appears to have a double face... This has happened with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, where she has been invited on several occasions," Gokhale said , "Have gone abroad to address a business summit or for an event and the Ministry of External Affairs has refused to approve the protocol."

The party's fellow Rajya Sabha member Sagarika Ghosh said Banerjee has been stopped from going abroad thrice.He said, "Mamata Banerjee was stopped from traveling abroad thrice. This is a fundamental attack on the federal structure. The mandate is no longer for autocracy..."

TMC leaders also demanded a probe into the alleged manipulation in the stock market through exit polls.

Gokhale said, "This is a stock market manipulation scam perpetrated by the BJP. If it is not investigated then it is an insult to the people of India.We stand for the protection of Indian investors."

TMC MPs said that this issue will also be raised in the upcoming Parliament session.

A delegation of Trinamool Congress MPs met Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) officials here on Tuesday and demanded a probe into alleged stock market manipulation following the exit polls earlier this month.

Similar allegations have also been made by the Congress and other Indian block parties, who have claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah were "directly involved" in an alleged "stock market scam" in which retail investors were defrauded.
