A 22-year-old MTech student from India was stabbed to death during a fight between some Indian students in Melbourne/Chandigarh, Australia and police are searching for two Indian-origin brothers in connection with the murder.

According to Yashveer, the uncle of the deceased victim in Karnal, Haryana, Navjeet Sandhu was fatally attacked with a knife by another student when he tried to intervene in a dispute over some issue between some Indian students.

"Navjeet's friend (another Indian student) had asked him to go with him to his house to get his stuff because he had a car. When his friend went inside, Navjeet heard some screams and saw that there was a scuffle. When Navjeet tried to intervene, he refused to fight, so he was fatally stabbed in the chest,” said Yashveer, who will retire from the Army in July.He said that like Navjeet, the alleged accused is also a resident of Karnal.

Yashveer told that the family got information about the incident on Sunday morning.

The uncle of the deceased said that Navjeet's friend, with whom he was, was also injured in the incident.

Yashveer said that the family is in a state of shock. He said, “Navjeet was a brilliant student and was supposed to go with his family for holidays in July.,

According to Yashveer, Navjeet had gone to Australia to study one and a half years ago and his farmer father had sold one and a half acres of his land for his education.

"We urge the Indian government to help us bring back the body as soon as possible," he said.

Meanwhile, Victoria Police said detectives from their homicide squad are releasing descriptions and photographs of two men they are seeking after a stabbing in Ormond, south-east of Melbourne.

It said that the search is currently going on for Indian-origin brothers Abhijeet Abhijeet and Robin Garton.

Abhijeet is 26 years old and his height is described as 170 cm, strong build and black hair.Garten is 27 years old and is described as 170 cm tall, with a slim body and black hair.

They are believed to be traveling in a stolen 2014 white Toyota Camry sedan.

The pair were last seen in the Ormond area on Sunday morning, shortly after the incident occurred.

Emergency services were called to a residential property at around 1am on Sunday following reports of a dispute, the statement said.

On arrival, two men were found suffering from stab wounds.However, Victoria Police have not identified the victims.

It is understood that two other people fled the scene after the incident and police are continuing to search for the pair.

The police statement said it is believed the parties involved in the incident were known to each other and police are still working to establish what caused the altercation.

It says investigators are keen to speak to anyone who knows the current whereabouts of both men.
