Karimganj (Assam) [India], In a joint operation, the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police seized 2.20 lakh Yaba tablets worth Rs 66 crore in Karimganj district and arrested three people in connection with the case on Wednesday, officials. he said.

According to reports, the operation was launched based on intelligence inputs under the leadership of IGP (STF) Partha Sarathi Mahant and Karimganj district Superintendent of Police Partha Protim Das.

IGP (STF) Partha Sarathi Mahant told ANI that a huge quantity of drugs were seized in a joint operation of STF and Karimganj district police in Lamajuar area under Badarpur police station on Wednesday.

"During the operation, we found and seized 2,20,000 Yaba tablets inside the secret chambers of two backlights of the Bolero vehicle. A Bolero camper vehicle without registration number has also been seized. We have arrested Khairul Hussain (driver) “We have arrested three people, identified as Mamon Miyan and Nabir Hussain, and they are residents of Tripura,” Mahant said.

He further said that the market value of the consignment has been estimated at around Rs 66 crore.

Earlier, Assam Police on Thursday seized 1.7 kg of heroin worth around Rs 8.5 crore and arrested a person in Dholikhal area near the Assam-Mizoram border.

Cachar district superintendent of police Numal Mahatta said, "Acting on a tip-off, Cachar police launched a special operation on the Assam-Mizoram border in Dholai Khal area near Dholai Khal border post under the jurisdiction of Dholai police station."
