An official said that departmental proceedings have also been initiated against the accused. Moreover, a criminal case has also been registered against him which may land him behind the bars.

“The crime came to light recently after the store charge was handed over between two inspectors. The officer taking charge noticed discrepancies in the delivery of UPS units and their accessories. These were purchased in 2022. The inspector who took charge immediately brought it to the notice of the RPF administration of SER and an investigation was initiated by the Internal Vigilance Wing (IVW) of the RPF,” said a spokesperson of SER.

He said the report prepared by the IVW on June 20, 2024, confirmed the allegations and provided prima facie evidence of the involvement of the three accused.

He said departmental proceedings were immediately initiated and a criminal case under the Railway Property (Unlawful Possession) Act, 1966 was registered against the trio at the RPF post in Garden Reach, Kolkata.

He said further investigation is underway and if all three are found guilty, appropriate action will be taken.
