- Immersive eco-tourism, conservation, cultural heritage, and nature experiences at Eco Retreat Bhitarkanika.
Every year, Odisha Tourism organizes the 'Eco Retreat Odisha', a glamping event that takes place in various locations across the State. This event offers facilities that are comparable to those found in star category hotels and resorts. One of the locations where this event is held is the Pentha Beach inside the Bhitarkanika National Park, which is a hidden gem. Surrounded by a beautiful casuarina forest, Pentha Beach is truly awe-inspiring. The Bhitarkanika National Park is not only a Ramsar Site but also home to the largest variety of mangrove species in India, as well as the largest population of saltwater crocodiles in the Indian sub-continent. It is also a haven for monitor lizards, eight varieties of kingfisher, and hosts one of the largest heronries in India. During winter, it becomes a feeding ground for migratory birds. Don't miss the chance to go on a boat safari along the creeks of Bhitarkanika to witness this incredible wildlife. Make sure to visit the Bhitarkanika sanctuary and the crocodile breeding center as well. Another must-visit is the nearby turtle sanctuary at Gahirmatha Beach, where the lovely Olive Ridley turtles come to nest every year. In addition to these natural wonders, there are plenty of activities to enjoy at Eco Retreat, such as rifle shooting, archery, zorbing, cycling, and cultural performances.
